About Joanne Mulcahy
Joanne Mulcahy, a highly experienced criminal defence lawyer with over 30 years of expertise, earned her Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta in 1987 and completed her LL.B. at Queen’s University in 1990. Since 1992, she has partnered with Harry G. Black, Q.C., specializing in criminal and administrative law defence.
Joanne is renowned for her specialization in defending police officers, handling cases before various courts, the Coroner’s Court, police tribunals, Ontario Civilian Police Commission, Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, and other tribunals. She advocates for associations on matters related to the Police Services Act, the S.I.U., the OIPRD, third-party records, the OCPC, Panel of Justice, the Media, victim compensation, and the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board.
Recognized for her legal contributions, Joanne served as Assistant Editor and Contributor to “Reid’s Administrative Law” and co-authored the 2002 publication.
