Sergeant Sean Shorrock of the Thunder Bay Police Service exemplifies the very best of community policing through his leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to mentoring youth in our community. Through his work with the Thunder Bay Police Youth Corps, Sgt. Shorrock has created meaningful opportunities for young people to develop leadership skills, build confidence, and form positive relationships with law enforcement.
Sean dedicates time each week to supporting youth in the community through an outstanding program that strengthens children's confidence and self-esteem. His mentorship goes beyond skill development — he inspires young people to become positive role models and active contributors within their community.
Sgt. Shorrock first got involved with the Youth Corp in 1998 when he started volunteering there and have continued since, holding various positions within the organization. Sgt. Shorrock is currently the Commanding Officer after having taken over from the previous commanding officer, and will finish out the year with our final parade May 20th. Sgt. Shorrock has been asked to take over as chair of the board which will prevents him from holding an operational spot but, will still be involved in volunteer capacity.
The Thunder Bay Police Youth Corps program is built on the principles of teamwork, discipline, community service, and personal development. Under Sgt. Shorrock’s leadership, the program has flourished. He has invested countless hours guiding youth through training, mentorship, and community initiatives, ensuring participants not only gain valuable life skills but also feel supported and empowered to reach their full potential.
By encouraging involvement in volunteering initiatives, food drives, and other community service efforts, he instills values of responsibility, compassion, and leadership. His commitment to guiding and uplifting youth is truly commendable and deserving of recognition.

For many youth in Thunder Bay, particularly those seeking direction or positive influences, Sgt. Shorrock has been a steady and encouraging presence. Through the Youth Corps, Sgt. Shorrock has helped foster stronger relationships between police and the community.
