On Friday, December 19, 2025, Cst. Preston Gabriele responded to a domestic disturbance in Stoney Creek. The suspect had forcibly kicked in both front and rear doors, leaving the residence unsecured. Unfortunately, the Victim/Witness Assistance Program (VWAP) does not cover emergency door repairs. Cst. Gabriele temporarily secured the doors for the night and took measurements for a more permanent fix.
The following day, December 20, 2025, Cst. Gabriele returned to the scene. He brought his own tools to work, went to Rona, and purchased the necessary materials (approximately $80.00). He then repaired both the front and rear doors at the victim’s residence. Notably, the victim was unable to afford a new door and repair, with only $30.00 in her bank account, and was unable to use her insurance due to the high deductible.
Cst Gabriele’s actions demonstrated his commitment to supporting victims of crime and going above and beyond to help them feel secure within their community. His dedication to ensuring the victim’s safety and well-being deserves recognition.
