I met Pablo Perreria about 11 years ago. I had gone through a divorce a few years earlier and was a single mother of three children, struggling to provide for my family. My youngest daughter was in Grade 2 or 3 at the time, and I couldn’t afford Christmas presents. Her school shared information about the OPP “Christmas with an Officer” program, and that is how we first met Pablo.
Since that day, he has remained a positive presence in our lives.
He encouraged my daughter, Natalia, and helped guide her in a positive direction. At the time, she was unable to participate in after-school sports or activities because I simply could not afford them. Pablo helped make it possible for her to join programs, including kickboxing, which helped build her confidence, self-esteem, and sense of self-worth. His encouragement made a lasting impact.
Through various programs and his constant support, Pablo has helped many children in our community. His belief in young people has inspired them to pursue higher education and brighter futures.
Because of his encouragement, my daughter is now attending Lakehead University, studying for a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology. This is especially meaningful because, at one point, a teacher told her she would never achieve anything and that she was not smart enough. She was also bullied throughout elementary and high school. Despite those challenges, she succeeded—and Pablo was one of the people who believed in her when she needed it most.
As a mother, his support also gave me the strength to stay positive and continue believing in my daughter’s abilities. His influence has been felt not only in our lives, but in the lives of so many children in Caledon who are now becoming outstanding members of our community and society. I truly believe Pablo goes above and beyond to support youth in our community, especially those facing difficult circumstances. He is an incredibly positive influence for both our children and our community.
I am deeply grateful for everything he has done for my daughter and for our family. I don’t think he even realizes just how much his kindness and support have meant to us. Pablo has dedicated his life to helping others, and because of him, many young people have hope for better futures. In my opinion, he more than deserves this award.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you, Pablo, for the positive impact you have had on our lives. And thank you to all officers who serve our communities—you may not always realize the difference you make, but your actions truly shape lives in meaningful ways.
We are forever grateful.
