Joel was on his way home from work where he found me on the side of the road, stuck in snow. He immediately stopped to offer assistance. Unfortunately, my car was more stuck than what we initially thought. We agreed we would call CAA, even though we were told it would be several hours before the tow truck could arrive.

I thanked Joel for his assistance, and before leaving, he made sure I was warm and safe. To my surprise, Joel soon returned — now dressed for the -20°C weather and carrying a shovel. He began digging my car out while insisting I stay inside the vehicle to keep warm.

Once the car was shovelled out, he instructed me on how to maneuver my Mach-E in an attempt to free it from the snow that I was stuck in on the shoulder of the road. Unfortunately, this attempt was unsuccessful. Despite this, Joel stayed with me in the cold, dark -20°C night until additional help arrived. He assisted when help came and made sure everyone involved was safe.

Joel did not have to return in such extreme temperatures, especially after a full day of work and during his valuable time with family. I am forever grateful for his kindness and selflessness. At the time, my electric vehicle’s battery was already down to 54%, I was alone on a dark side road, cold, stressed, and experiencing a situation I had never faced before. Joel remained calm, reassuring, and supportive throughout the entire ordeal.

I truly believe Joel should be recognized for going above and beyond to help a stranger in need. His actions reflect genuine compassion and integrity, and I will always be thankful for what he did that night.
