Joanne Pope - Hamilton Police Service

On June 2, Joanne received a 911 call from a woman in Mississauga reporting that her boyfriend was in Hamilton and intended to take his life by jumping from a bridge. She was able to get the boyfriend on the line and remained with him on the phone, providing support and reassurance until officers arrived on scene. When speaking with responding officers, the man stated that he would have jumped if it had not been for the woman who stayed on the phone with him.
