The Essex OPP (Harrow/Essex) detachment is blessed to have a team of local Heroes. My nominee, Jackson Hills is a young officer who has gone out of his way to bring smiles to the residence in our community, especially our youngest members.
Jackson quickly rose to hero status in my grandson Rowen’s eyes. Rowen was introduced to Jackson in 2023. Rowen had a police costume that would make even a border officer laugh. Jackson recognized an opportunity to foster a friendship with a community youth. Jackson has sparked a dream in Rowen to become a police officer when he grows up. Through their friendship Rowen has met many officers and still dreams of becoming a police officer.
When “on shift” as Rowen would put it, Jackson along side his service members face the unknown with strength, compassion and kindness. He demonstrates exceptional dedication and heroism that does NOT go unnoticed. He brings comfort and safety to our community and deserves to be recognized. But should he not be officially recognized, Rowen has already awarded him the status of hero!
