On Monday, April 28, 2025, PC Noseworthy and PC Haskell responded to a call regarding a woman in active labour. Upon arrival, they located a female inside the residence lying on a bed. She stated she was attempting to “hold the baby in” and did not want to give birth.

PC Noseworthy immediately approached to assess the situation and observed that the baby’s head was partially delivered. She calmly encouraged the woman to push. As the infant progressed further, PC Noseworthy noticed the umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby’s neck. She promptly and carefully removed the cord and continued guiding the mother through the delivery.

Once the baby was fully delivered, PC Noseworthy observed that the infant was unresponsive and not breathing. Drawing on her first aid training, she quickly intervened by holding the newborn and applying gentle stimulation. Within moments, the baby began to cry and breathe independently.

Emergency Medical Services arrived shortly thereafter and assumed care.

PC Noseworthy’s swift actions, composure, and reliance on her training were instrumental in saving this child’s life. She should be highly commended for her decisive and life-saving efforts during this critical incident.
