In the early hours of Sunday July 6th, under conditions of minimal lighting and heavy, fast-moving traffic, Sgt Dav Rosic displayed extraordinary courage and selflessness in response to a devastating motor vehicle collision involving two pedestrians.

Initially on scene for a relatively minor collision, Sgt Rosic witnessed a secondary collision, in which two pedestrians had been violently thrown, one into the middle of live traffic lanes and was in immediate danger of being struck again. Without regard for his own safety, Sgt Rosic acted with decisiveness and urgency. He ran across multiple lanes of active traffic, vaulted a concrete guardrail, and once again entered live lanes of travel—all under extremely hazardous conditions.

Risking his own life, Sgt Rosic reached the critically injured pedestrian and dragged her to the shoulder and out of harm’s way. Once in a safer location, he immediately initiated lifesaving measures, including CPR, and continued to render aid until paramedics and firefighters arrived. Thanks to his swift and heroic actions, the victim was transported to a trauma centre alive and in critical condition.

Sgt Rosic's conduct was not only above and beyond the call of duty but was undertaken with full knowledge of the significant personal risk involved. His selfless bravery and commitment to preserving life exemplify the highest ideals of law enforcement and public service.

For his heroic actions that night—placing himself in mortal danger to save another—Sgt Dav Rosic is most deserving of this recognition.
