Andrew "Scott" Hamilton has served with the Hamilton Police Service for 27 years. Over the years, he has dedicated countless hours of his own time to organizing events for the city’s youth, including canoe trips and skateboarding events. His efforts have made a significant impact on police-community relations, fostering trust and connection with young people.
His work with Crime Stoppers set new standards for cooperation, leading to numerous arrests and contributing to the safety of communities across Ontario.
As a retired RCMP officer and former OPP member with 46 years of policing experience, I have witnessed firsthand how Scott consistently exceeds expectations in his service to the citizens of Hamilton—both on and off duty. His dedication has earned the respect of his fellow officers and strengthened relationships within the policing community.
Scott has proudly represented the Hamilton Police Service as a member of both its cycling and running teams, participating in multiple rides from Aylmer to the Ottawa Police Memorial and competing in numerous races while wearing HPS running apparel. Three years ago, he was recognized with a Crime Stoppers Award for his outstanding leadership while in charge of the Fugitive Apprehension Squad. Additionally, he serves as a goalie for one of the HPS hockey teams, fostering camaraderie and esprit de corps among officers and their families.
I am certain that I have only scratched the surface of Scott’s contributions. His fellow officers will undoubtedly attest to his dedication, leadership, and the admiration he has earned throughout his career.
