Adi is one of the most competent and hard-working police officers I know. He consistently takes charge when needed but is also a team player, ready to support and follow direction when another officer is leading. He treats community members with kindness and respect, offering help and answering questions, yet remains direct and assertive when dealing with individuals who have committed crimes.
Adi has repeatedly demonstrated his skill and dedication in the field. He has apprehended fleeing suspects, physically intervened when necessary to prevent escalation, and successfully de-escalated tense situations involving both individuals and groups. He takes on the most challenging aspects of the job, from responding to homicides and deaths to handling more routine but essential duties, such as hospital watches and prisoner transports.
Despite having only four years of service, Adi is now one of the most senior constables on his shift. Many of his hard-working colleagues have moved on due to the difficult and demanding nature of policing in his area of Peel, but Adi has remained steadfast in his commitment to serving the community. His knowledge and experience have been invaluable to newer constables, who have greatly benefited from his mentorship. Beyond his professional responsibilities, he is a strong support system for his coworkers, assisting them with difficult calls, administrative tasks, and even personal challenges. Many consider him not just a colleague but a close friend.
One of the greatest examples of his excellence in emergency response occurred in November 2024, during the protests between Hindu and Sikh groups at the Hindu Sabha Temple on Gore Rd. Adi, alongside his coworkers, worked to prevent the situation from escalating into violence. He successfully removed a hockey stick from protesters who were attempting to use it as a weapon. Unfortunately, he was videoed by protesters, misrepresented in Indian news coverage, and faced concerns about potential backlash against him and his family. However, what the videos did not capture was his compassion—helping elderly community members safely exit the temple and cross the street away from the chaos. His ability to remain focused on community safety, even in such a stressful and volatile situation, speaks volumes about his dedication.
Peel is incredibly fortunate to have an officer like Adi. His experience, leadership, and unwavering commitment to public service are deeply appreciated by both his colleagues and the community.
