Profiles in Service: The Heart of the Police Association of Ontario

January 14, 2026
Spotlight on Trevor Arnold, Chief Administrative Officer of the Peel Regional Police Association and Chair of the PAO Pensions Committee

We are proud to introduce the dedicated individuals who serve our 33,000 members province-wide. Through our Profiles in Service initiative, members gain an inside look at the personal and professional journeys of those who represent them every day.

Each profile showcases the member’s tenure, professional background, favourite aspects of board and committee service, top priorities, and proudest achievements. By sharing these stories, we aim to foster a deeper appreciation of the Association’s work and its lasting, positive impact on policing in Ontario.

We are pleased to present Trevor Arnold, Chief Administrative Officer of the Peel Regional Police Association and Chair of the PAO Pensions Committee—a leader whose commitment embodies the spirit and strength of our Association.

How long have you been serving on the committee?

I have been on the committee for 5 years, serving as Chair for the past year.

In a couple of sentences, can you describe your role on the committee?

I am currently the Chair of the committee. My role involves presiding over and attending meetings, and participating in various functions with OMERS on behalf of the committee.  I have also tried to foster more interest in OMERS and our pension plan amongst the membership - being a part of OMERS is such a critical component to our members' financial future, and all too often it is taken for granted, or there is the belief that everyone has it, or something similar, which is far from the truth.

What’s your favourite part about being on the committee?

As I inch closer to retirement, understanding and being actively involved in the decisions that impact our pension is the most rewarding part of serving on this committee.

What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned in this role?

How little our members actually know about their pension.  Their pension is likely the largest financial asset most members have, yet all too often they pay little or no attention to it and don’t fully understand what a huge benefit it is… until they retire.

What inspired you to join the committee?

As mentioned, I am getting closer to retirement, so naturally have taken a much keener interest in our pension plan.  I also wanted to get involved to encourage others to talk about their pensions and what they mean for their financial futures.
