Jennifer Kovach

At approximately 12:30 a.m. on March 14, 2013, Constable Jennifer Kovach was responding to a request for assistance from another officer who had made a traffic stop. Unfortunately, Cst. Kovach's cruiser was involved in a collision with a city bus and she was rushed to Guelph General Hospital where, tragically, she succumbed to her injuries.

Age: 32

Constable Styles pulled over a 2005 Dodge Caravan with four occupants at a traffic stop on Highway 48 just south of Herald Road in the Town of East Gwillimbury. While at the side of the car investigating the driver, the vehicle accelerated and dragged Constable Styles approximately 300 metres before the vehicle lost control and rolled over, pinning him beneath it. He was rushed to Southlake Regional Health Centre by York Region EMS where he succumbed to his injuries.

The 15 year old driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Three passengers in the van were not seriously injured.

Sergeant Russell died while attempting to stop the driver of a stolen heavy-duty pick up truck equipped with a snow plow. The driver had commandeered the vehicle earlier that morning, and for nearly two hours careened his way through downtown Toronto streets hitting buildings and striking several cars.

Age: 37

Ontario Provincial Constable Vu Pham, 37, a 15-year veteran of the force, died on March 8, 2010. He was responding to a domestic call and was shot after he pulled over a suspect in a vehicle on a country road in Huron County, north of London.

Artem "James" Ochakovsky

Age: 36

On Monday, March 1st, Constable Artem "James" Ochakovsky, age 36 of the Peel Regional Police Service, as a result of a motor vehicle accident, was fatally injured while responding to a call for service. He succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, March 2nd.

At the time of his tragic death, Doug was leading an international peacekeeping operation in Haiti. He was the Acting Commissioner of Operations for the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti.

Age: 51

Constable Czapnik was ambushed and stabbed to death while sitting in a cruiser outside of a hospital emergency ward where he had attended on an unrelated matter.

Alan Hack

Age: 31

Provincial Constable Alan Hack was a member of the Elgin County OPP and was just 31 years of age when he died after the cruiser he was in collided with an asphalt truck outside of Rodney near London.

Alan was a probationary constable and had been on the job since May Prior to that he had been a cadet for two years.Alan is survived by his common law spouse.

Robert J. Plunkett

Age: 43

Constable Plunkett was killed while attempting to make an arrest during a criminal investigation involving a man allegedly stealing a car for the possession of airbags. As Cst. Plunkett approached the vehicle, the man began accelerating in reverse, striking the police officer and pinning him between the open car door and a tree.

Two parties were arrested in connection with this incident.

David Mounsey

Age: 50

Constable David Mounsey, died a month after his cruiser struck a hydro pole in Huron County. The incident occurred as Mounsey was responding to a truck rollover on Harrison Road, west of Wroxter. As he traveled along Brussels Line, his cruiser went off the paved part of the road, striking a hydro pole. The weather was near whiteout conditions at times with snow blowing in off Lake Huron. He was transported to London Health Sciences Centre by air ambulance with life threatening injuries. On November 13, 2006 he succumbed to his injuries at the Clinton Public Hospital.
