Toronto Police Service (TPS) Emergency Task Force Constable Marc Pinizzotto was shot and killed in the line of duty on the morning of June 11, 2026, while executing a search warrant. An 18-year veteran of the Service, Cst. Pinizzotto was a hero in life who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect his community. We stand united in sorrow and grief as we remember and honour Cst. Pinizzotto’s life. His commitment to public service and his bravery will never be forgotten.

Provincial Constable Tarun Bali, of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) - Dufferin County Detachment in the Central Region, died in the line of duty on June 9, 2026, while serving with the James Bay Detachment in the North East Region. An OPP officer of 2.5 years, Cst. Bali dedicated his life to serving others and protecting our communities. His sudden death is deeply mourned across the policing community, throughout Ontario, and beyond. His courage, service, and sacrifice will never be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to be honoured.

Sergeant Brandon Malcolm, of Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) - Northumberland Detachment, died in the line of duty on April 27, 2026, while operating his police motorcycle in Cobourg, ON. A proud member of the OPP Golden Helmets and former Auxiliary member with the Toronto Police Service, Sergeant Malcolm dedicated his life to serving others and fulfilling his lifelong dream of becoming a police officer. His sudden death is deeply mourned across the policing community and throughout the province. His bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to be honoured.

Detective Constable Steven Tourangeau died a vehicle crash while on duty at Huron-Perth Community Street Crime Unit, Perth County Detachment. Condolences to his family & colleagues & to the loved ones of the civilian who died too.

Sergeant Eric Mueller, of the Russell County OPP Detachment, was shot while responding to a disturbance call at a home. Sergeant Mueller was a dedicated member of the OPP family, whose contributions to the organization and the communities he served did not go unnoticed. He was described by his colleagues as a strong team player who could be counted on whenever necessary. He led by example and his death is mourned by the entire police community and province.

Provincial Constable Grzegorz (Greg) Pierzchala, of the Haldimand County Detachment, was shot and killed while responding to a motor vehicle collision in Hagersville, Ontario on Tuesday December 27, 2022. His death is mourned by the entire police community and province.

Constable Russell was responding to a home disturbance when he and Constable Northrup were ambushed when upon entering the home. His death is mourned by the South Simcoe Police Service and the entire community of Innisfil.

Cst. Andrew Hong was in Missisauga for training when he went to Tim Horton's on his lunch break. He was sitting alone having a coffee when he was ambushed and shot point-blank. The police community across the province is devastated by this shocking, violent murder.

Age: 55

Jeffrey Northrup was killed on July 2 when he was struck by a vehicle while responding to a reported robbery in progress at an underground parking lot at Toronto City Hall. His death was mourned by countless members of the Toronto Police Service, including his colleagues in 52 Division downtown.
