PC Browne was traveling with Constable David Toffoli on Highway 69 south of Sudbury. The load of steel shifted on a transport truck traveling in the opposite lane, causing the truck to go out of control and collide with the cruiser, crushing it. Browne was killed and Toffoli critically injured.
